Uh, it’s Friday?

Hi Kara,

I’ve been with my mom for most of the day today and I have to tell you that I forgot to make something up to post.

My mom got a treatment on her face to remove precancerous cells and I couldn’t be more proud of her for getting that procedure done. It’s painful, she will have a red face for two weeks, but it was so so necessary. Go mom! And wear sun screen y’all.

I also need to tell you that I failed miserably on my book challenge. I finished Furiously Happy (READ IT DAMN YOU) and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children – and I’m about a chapter into the second book in the series. I forgot how creepy these books are. Probably why I’m so hesitant to start the second one. Anyways, huge fail. Why does life and other interests get in the way of reading? Plus, now I have Binge to read!

Okay, that’s all I’ve got for the night! Next week will be better I promise!

Punishments and a MOTD

Hello Keddah,

Let’s start this out with what I’m most excited for; YOUR PUNISHMENT. Film yourself (or stuffed animals) reciting a play, poem, or monologue as dramatically as humanly possible. Have fun!

Now on to my makeup post.

Last weekend I had an urge to make myself up. Here are some pictures!

Here are some of the shadows I used. I don’t really want to list them all out because I kind of dip my brush into all of them, but if you want to know specifics, lemme know.

This is my collection of Inglot and some of my MakeupGeek collection. The look was based around the round pan in the top left hand corner.

Hope you like it! I’m going to try and challenge myself to doing a makeup look a month! ❤

October Things

Hi Kara,

I didn’t prepare a post because I’m a horrible person so here are some things I’ve really been liking this month.

Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson

IMG_9607

I’m going to repost this picture as much as humanly possible because Rory turns me into a damn looker.

I really wish you would read this book. It was a fucking delight. She makes you feel crazy and normal and human while weaving in the most hilarious anecdotes. I was smart this time and peed before every reading. And, as you personally saw, it’s necessary, because anytime she talks about Ferris Mewler I lose my damn mind.

Youtube Music

I’ve been obsessed with these two songs:

Fools by Troye Sivan aaaand

Can’t Sleep Love by Pentatonix featuring Tink (which is playing right now and I can’t stop my jam)(sidebar, I have a MASSIVE crush on the bassist; STOPPP. He’s so cute and clearly I have a type.)

Tea Time

12140207_10206204588806534_2426748460647817931_o

When we were in Vegas, we went to tea with our darling friend Jessica. It was a “Sorry Kara and I can’t be at your baby shower because of a wedding/Sorry Jessica can’t make it to my wedding because she’s birthing a baby” party. And it was amazing. And I think we need more tea times. And more Vegas times. And more Roulette times because, I mean, I love feeling like I stole $70.00 from a very profitable business.

To the very furthest star and back,

PS Nightmare watch is at 3. Or 4. I’m so bad at counting.

Puppy School

FB_IMG_1443746755946

Hi Steffi,

Ludo went to his first puppy training class today! He was soooo good! He was very nervous around the other dogs but as soon as treats were involved, he wasn’t phased. I’m sure he was confused what with all the treats, noises and poking and proding we were doing but he smiled stupidly through the whole thing. Thanks to Link, he was way ahead in the sit-and-stare-at-me-for-a-treat and we were able to hold his attention for a whole 15 seconds!

Next week he goes to class number 2 and a private lesson about leash walking with Link. He will graduate after he goes to 6 classes. Soon after that it will be time for his manly parts to go, and probably the cone of shame, but we aren’t telling him about that just yet ;P

PS you are owed a mini punishment because you forgot to hit publish, which I will think of after I’m done recovering from the tiny chickens in my brain.

Books TBR in October

Hey Kara,

I started watching these videos by ReadByZoe on YouTube and apparently there’s this whole book nerd thing on YT that I never knew about and now I feel really lame and late to the game. BUT the reading community (or whatever the hell they’re called – book nerds?) on YT has this thing called “TBR” or “To be Read” and I think that’s fantastic and so I’m going to copy it like the supersonic mirror that I am.

I didn’t read anything in September so I’m going to start October off right, with the funniest author in all of existence: Jenny Lawson.

  1. Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson
    • I’ve already started reading this book and I am continuously excited to pick it up again. She is just so uncompromisingly funny. I learned from her last book to pee before I read because (and Andrew can attest to this) I spend a hefty majority of reading this book crying of laughter. Actual tears. I implore anyone with mental illness or anyone who has friends with mental illness or anyone with a pulse to go out and buy this book immediately. I know it will benefit your life and I’m not even done with the book yet.
    • P.S. She’s going to be in Phoenix for a book signing. Guess when, go ahead. No, not my wedding, I wouldn’t care about that because my wedding is important. No, she’s going to be here the day I leave for Disney World. This is the ONLY thing that has made me VERY sad about my trip. I seriously considered changing our dates of travel. WHY, JENNY, WHYYYY!!!!
  2. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Hollow City and Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs
    • First, I’m hardcore envious of the author’s name. There’s no way it can be real. Second, the first two books are a reread – and here’s why. I first read Miss Peregrine’s when it came out in 2011 and I really loved it. When I picked up Hollow City in 2014, I bought it on my e-reader and it just wasn’t the right experience (also, I had forgotten quite a bit of the original story, shhh). These stories are mixed media – they contain pictures found by the author (real pictures and they’re all very creepy and eerie) and the e-reader just didn’t do it justice. So when Library of Souls came out this past month, I decided to buy it and Hollow City in hardback and give the whole series another read. This series is perfect to gear up for Halloween by the way.
  3. Asylum by Madeleine Roux
    • Again, stop it with the awesome names, authors. This book was recommended to me by Goodreads because I like the Miss Peregrine series. This is also a mixed media book and apparently contains real pictures from asylums. I’m so excited to read this and Andrew is very mad that I bought it because there’s a 100% chance I won’t ever be able to sleep again.

So that’s it! Five books to be read by the end of October. Hopefully this will keep me motivated and hold me accountable for the books I bought when you know very well that I have two very full Shelves of Shame.

I will see you TODAY. TODAY, KARA, TODAY.

By the way, for October (possibly until Christmas) I will be finishing off my post with a countdown of how many times I’ve watched Nightmare Before Christmas this year. The current count is 2.

The TeeVee

Hi Steffi, it’s October! And that means I have way too many tv shows to watch. This reminds me of the Dear Hank & John where someone asked how to prioritize your media consumption. It’s pretty much impossible with so many shows, youtube videos, movies, books, and articles. So I’m going to take Hank’s dubious advice and just fully enjoy the things I am consuming and not worry about the things I’m missing out on. So here are the teevee shows I’ll be enjoying this season!
