My Favorite Things

Hi Beanzies!

I’m doing my March post because I can’t be trusted to post anymore.

Here are some of my favorite things!

This was my delicious hipster/hippy/trendy? Idk which, breakfast this morning! I need more antioxidants and omegas in my diet and this has both! It’s a banana, strawberry, mango, blueberry acai bowl with raw walnuts and hemp seeds on top. It’s very delicious and filling! I wish I had a better blender (I use my food processor) but it will do for now!

Kitties lounging in the sunshine. A forever favorite.

Banana for scale

This post wouldn’t exist without my new washing machine. It holds… so much stuff. We would normally need to do two or three loads to do all of our towels in our old washer. WE CAN DO THEM ALL AT ONCE. We could barely fit our quilt in our old washer and WE CAN WASH THAT AND A SET OF SHEETS AND HAVE ROOM TO SPARE – MY LIFE IS GOOD.

These two perscription medications have changed my face. For the past two+ weeks of using these together, my face has done a 180. I have better skin right now than I think I’ve ever had before. I’ve had two spots since using these to products whereas before, I was getting a new spot daily. I’m so so happy and grateful and I keep thinking to myself “Is this my life? Is this my skin?” Eep!

Lastly, my adorable kimono (I hate that they’re called that. They’re not a Kimono, they’re thin cardigans). It’s so cute and I love the siloette it gives me 🙂

LASTLY for real, there a two things I couldn’t get pictures of. One is Beauty and the Beast. That movie was FREAKING AMAZING! And also my bidet. My bidet is life altering and everyone who doesn’t have one is a peasant scum. My butt is sparkling.

BB Bean Nursery!

Hi Steffibuns! I’m excited to tell you what me and Grayson decided on for our gender neutral nursery theme: Totoro!

Spending Ban

Beans.

I feel personally victimized by the spending ban I put on myself. I actually, legitimately hate this more than I’ve hated anything else in my life (That’s a lie. I’m looking at you, Disneyland, you know what you’ve done).

Here are just SOME of the many things I’ve convinced myself that I need during this ban.

wm-lame

World Market $29.99

wm-tote

World Market $11.99

we-cat

West Elm $19.

mc-unicorn

Modcloth $44.99 YOUR CHILD NEEDS THIS, OKAY.

dftba-wizard-school

DFTBA $23.99

am-food-pro

Amazon $39.95 (I convinced Andrew to get this for me as a gift because I broke the other one we had in an attempt to make banana ice cream and I NEEDED MORE)

Capture.PNG

Literally everything currently sold by Lush $INFINITY

And I can’t get the picture to save but linen duvet covers from Overstock for $104.00 and curtains from Overstock for like $35.00ish.

Last but certainly not least, A House. A fucking house.

THIS IS SICK I HAVE A SICKNESS.

But, also, I’m super proud of myself for nearly completing this ban. I think it would be good for me to track down all of the things I convince myself I need in a month, and then at the end, if there’s something I still really want (lamp and duvet), then I can get it. The other things that I don’t need, they just sort of fall by the wayside.

Also, PS, thank you for the motivation to keep going earlier this week!!

Belated Birthday Post

Hi Steffibuns,

I didn’t post last week because I was busy having a birthday. I knew you wouldn’t mind.

Every year I seem to have better and better birthdays. Facebook and my journal reminded me of all  the special ones I’ve had since you planned that elaborate surprise  7 years ago in Disneyland. I was surprised again in 2014, we always go to dinner, I get Harry Potter books and Disney movies, we went to the Renaissance Fair another year, and I’m always surrounded by the people who mean most to me. I am constantly reminded how loved and lucky I am to have the friends and family that I do.

I worry that I don’t make you feel the same way on your birthday, but you are Leslie Knope and I am Ann Perkins and that kind of explains it.

I love you!

Japan Haul

Hi Beans!

Here are some of my favorite things that Andrew and I brought back from Japan!

First things first, Gudetama. He was a little capsule toy and he hangs on our fridge. We really love his butt crack.

Pikachu dressed like MARIO! He’s so cute and perfect and we happened to be in Japan on the day he released.

You didn’t expect us to just get Mario? Of course not, his brother is incredible.

My Hakuhodo brushes. My prized possessions. So prized that I can’t handle using them. It’s a sickness.

My Japanese Harry Potter books! I only got 1-3 because I didn’t want to carry back more than that. I also got Quidditch Through the Ages, Magical Beasts and Where to Find Them, and Tales of Beetle the Bard.

My Totoro music box! This is one of my favorite things in the world. LISTEN!

And last but not least, never least, the most incredible perfect thing to have ever entered my life…

Mr. Wah-seebs himself. My one true love.

I MISS JAPAN LET’S GO BACK AND NEVER COME HOME OKAY?

P.S. I know I’m a day late. Punish me if we’re still doing that.

Saying Goodbye to Japan

Hi Steffibuns,

I took that photo as we were saying our goodbyes. You were headed to the bullet train headed for Mt Fuji and we were headed to the airport. This is also where we were super lost the first night and you found an English speaking man to help us.

The hour long train ride to the airport was much more exciting during the day. We got a glimpse of the countryside once we got out of Tokyo. Fun fact, this particular Monday seemed to be laundry day because there were so many apartments with their clothes hanging out to dry.

We had a lot of time to wait at the airport. This place was huge and there was almost no one there. We did some more shopping and finally found our own Gudetama plushie WITH a butt crack. I was pretty happy. We also bought cantelope flavored kitkats, which taste like captain crunch. We lucked out and snagged a couch by a charging station, then we realized there was a whole lounge downstairs with couches and chairs and a TV. Swanky.

We had lots of leg room on our flight back because we chose the front seats behind 1st class. Not sure it was worth the distance to our TV screens though. We were landing in Portland in the morning so I watched the sky turn as we crossed the ocean. It was a much shorter flight on the way back as we flew straight across and didn’t go all the way up to Alaska. We also stopped in LA and then home. I was missing Japan already. Let’s go back!

2017 Planner

Beans!

I never posted about my new planner and that’s honestly a travesty. Cuz it’s adorable.

Let us begin with the cats. And the metallic gold lettering. And let’s end with the cats.

This is my monthly goals page!

Here are my three favorite layouts. Each month has a different theme, all of which can be purchased as your front cover. I got Alison a cacti one for her birthday/Christmas/because.

This planner does have one weird thing, if the month ends midweek (as most months do) it will start a new weekly page for that month. As you can see, that was a bit wasteful for January. However, I use these pages for stuff like this, so it turned out well!

These are my two favorite spreads. I have a weekly spending, to do, and goals section and areas for motivational phrases! I’m currently trying to figure out how to break up stuff I’m doing on the weekly page, and I think the bullets are working fine. I’m still trying to perfect this. Also, I use washi tape in various shades of silver, gold, rose gold and black to “decorate” my blank notes page. I got a few from Amazon but most came from Michaels and were super cheap!

Lastly, I’m putting it out into the universe that I’m participating in No Spend Feb. Unfortunately, I will be seeing a doctor quite a bit for the foreseeable future to help my back (health update for those who don’t know: I’ve had a herniated disk in my back since the beginning of October last year. It ranged in pain from not being able to move to annoying, but I’m finally getting it taken care of by an amazing doctor that I completely trust and he has literally restored my faith in doctors).

So although I’ll be spending more money than I normally would on a regular month, I’m trying to break my addition to buying things. I really really like buying things and that needs to stop. So I’m not going to be spending money on anything that isn’t necessary. Hopefully I do well and I’ll keep you posted (on both my back and my spending!)

Btw, I got this wonderful planner from MochiThings.com. It’s such a freaking adorable site! You should absolutely check it out cuz THE STUFF IS SO CUTE I WANT IT ALL.

Japan Day 5 Part 2: The Tasty Noods!

Hi Steffibun!

So after we left the shrine, we went to find lunch near our apartment. That’s when the tasty noods happened. Unfortunately, they didn’t make any of their noodles with vegetable broth so you couldn’t taste any. And Andrew for some reason didn’t order any either, for which I’m sure he’ll regret the rest of his life >_< but he did get to finish mine because I was too full. It was a big bowl of soup! I’m only sad that we walked by this place everyday and I didn’t go in a get a different bowl every. day. We ordered from the vending machine, gave the cooks our tickets, sat at this little bar and watched them cook. I think I remember them laughing at me because I didn’t know how to use chopsticks.

Chris took the train back to the airport and we made the most of the rest of the day. We went back to the Shibuya train station and crossed the famous Shibuya crossing. We just shopped around and we found a Taco Bell-no we didn’t go in. Also can’t forget the cafe & spaghetti place.

I think this is the night we also went out for real sushi because we realized we hadn’t had any yet. But it’s the only major meal I didn’t take a picture of! Sad! I tried things I’ve never had before and it was all delicious, though I’m not sure I can eat eel again just because Andrew mentioned all the bones.

I have a few more pictures left from our way to the airport and at the airport the next day. I’ll share those next week!

1/28/17

Hi Beans!

I had no idea what to post today so I decided to show you what I did today 🙂 it was relaxing and just what I needed.

Every good morning starts with a cup of tea in a Disneyland mug. I also fed the two fattest cats in the world, and our friend Chris overheard the yelling match between myself and Derpy, the fattest of them all.

Then I made my bed, which I immediately regretted because I knocked over a full glass of water on my bedside table. But, cleaning the table warmed me up and I hadn’t cleaned it since we bought it so POSITIVE THINKING.

I realized that the blog hasn’t seen my sushi family. From top to bottom, Ginger, Tom, Tuna, and Wasabi. Wasabi may be the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

After tidying up the house, I decided to work out. I’ve worked out five days this week! I’m incredibly proud of myself.

Then I went to Walgreens and bought Andrew some pedialyte and distilled water because he got THE TINY CHICKENS. I say this in all caps because when he was smootching me when I had the tiny chickens and I told him he shouldn’t, he DENIED THE POSSIBILITY HE COULD GET SICK BECAUSE OF HIS IMMUNE SYSTEM OF STEEL!!! Immune system of cat poop more like.

Then I took a shower and used this stuff on my hair (and body).

And then I used skincare stuff. This is my morning (top) and night (bottom) routine. Faaannncy.

This is what my face looks like now thanks to wonderful products from my amazing dermatologist. I’m very pleased. Also, please ignore the hives on my neck. I’m dying of something slowly.

I got two packages today. One was a scale from Amazon. Second was a City Chic purchase. They were having a freaking ridiculous sale, where nearly everything was either $10 or $20. I spent $40.00 on these amazing pieces, one of which cost around $100 on its own! I love that sweater, the kimono and shirt!

Then I spent the rest of the night starting this guy! Which is a special present for a beautiful new bride!

I plan on going to bed very soon.

Best day!

Japan Day 5 Part 1: The Meiji Shrine

Hi Steffibuns,

This was our last full day in Japan. We were going to meet up with Chris again to see him back off to Korea, so we got up early to stop by our little bakery and get those delicious egg salad sandwiches and the 7eleven to get rice snacks. We had some time to walk to the shrine near our apartment before Chris met us. No food was allowed in so we sat near a horse arena to eat our breakfast and watched a guy back into a sign with his tiny truck.

We watched people bow in and out of the entrance, which was huge. It was so pretty in there! There was a short walk to the actual shrine itself and it was one of my favorite places. I used the bathroom, of course, and they had heated seats with the forest sounds, it was wonderful.

We got a lesson on purifying ourselves before we went in from a funny old lady. There was some kind of festival going on that day so we got to see some people dressed up. There were huge husband & wife trees that were planted together and lots of prayers written out on pieces of wood.

And I lied last week, we’ll get to the tasty noods next week in part 2!
