2017 Planner

Beans!

I never posted about my new planner and that’s honestly a travesty. Cuz it’s adorable.

Let us begin with the cats. And the metallic gold lettering. And let’s end with the cats.

This is my monthly goals page!

Here are my three favorite layouts. Each month has a different theme, all of which can be purchased as your front cover. I got Alison a cacti one for her birthday/Christmas/because.

This planner does have one weird thing, if the month ends midweek (as most months do) it will start a new weekly page for that month. As you can see, that was a bit wasteful for January. However, I use these pages for stuff like this, so it turned out well!

These are my two favorite spreads. I have a weekly spending, to do, and goals section and areas for motivational phrases! I’m currently trying to figure out how to break up stuff I’m doing on the weekly page, and I think the bullets are working fine. I’m still trying to perfect this. Also, I use washi tape in various shades of silver, gold, rose gold and black to “decorate” my blank notes page. I got a few from Amazon but most came from Michaels and were super cheap!

Lastly, I’m putting it out into the universe that I’m participating in No Spend Feb. Unfortunately, I will be seeing a doctor quite a bit for the foreseeable future to help my back (health update for those who don’t know: I’ve had a herniated disk in my back since the beginning of October last year. It ranged in pain from not being able to move to annoying, but I’m finally getting it taken care of by an amazing doctor that I completely trust and he has literally restored my faith in doctors).

So although I’ll be spending more money than I normally would on a regular month, I’m trying to break my addition to buying things. I really really like buying things and that needs to stop. So I’m not going to be spending money on anything that isn’t necessary. Hopefully I do well and I’ll keep you posted (on both my back and my spending!)

Btw, I got this wonderful planner from MochiThings.com. It’s such a freaking adorable site! You should absolutely check it out cuz THE STUFF IS SO CUTE I WANT IT ALL.

Butts.

1/28/17

Hi Beans!

I had no idea what to post today so I decided to show you what I did today 🙂 it was relaxing and just what I needed.

Every good morning starts with a cup of tea in a Disneyland mug. I also fed the two fattest cats in the world, and our friend Chris overheard the yelling match between myself and Derpy, the fattest of them all.

Then I made my bed, which I immediately regretted because I knocked over a full glass of water on my bedside table. But, cleaning the table warmed me up and I hadn’t cleaned it since we bought it so POSITIVE THINKING.

I realized that the blog hasn’t seen my sushi family. From top to bottom, Ginger, Tom, Tuna, and Wasabi. Wasabi may be the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

After tidying up the house, I decided to work out. I’ve worked out five days this week! I’m incredibly proud of myself.

Then I went to Walgreens and bought Andrew some pedialyte and distilled water because he got THE TINY CHICKENS. I say this in all caps because when he was smootching me when I had the tiny chickens and I told him he shouldn’t, he DENIED THE POSSIBILITY HE COULD GET SICK BECAUSE OF HIS IMMUNE SYSTEM OF STEEL!!! Immune system of cat poop more like.

Then I took a shower and used this stuff on my hair (and body).

And then I used skincare stuff. This is my morning (top) and night (bottom) routine. Faaannncy.

This is what my face looks like now thanks to wonderful products from my amazing dermatologist. I’m very pleased. Also, please ignore the hives on my neck. I’m dying of something slowly.

I got two packages today. One was a scale from Amazon. Second was a City Chic purchase. They were having a freaking ridiculous sale, where nearly everything was either $10 or $20. I spent $40.00 on these amazing pieces, one of which cost around $100 on its own! I love that sweater, the kimono and shirt!

Then I spent the rest of the night starting this guy! Which is a special present for a beautiful new bride!

I plan on going to bed very soon.

Best day!

Crafting Storage!

Hi Beans,

As you know, I’m convinced I’ve got the tiny chickens. I have no desire to do anything other than lay on the floor and try my best to absorb into the floor.

Which is partially why I forgot to post yesterday.

So here is a glimpse into what little I was able to accomplish this weekend #drama.

I bought these little containers for like $2.50 at Michaels. They’re great for storing embroidery floss!

Please notice that nine and six are perfect opposites of each other. Please also notice that I had 996 also in my haul, and the panic that ensued.

First, I cut the color number and tape it to the plastic. Then I write the number on both sides of the top of the plastic… thingie.

Give it a wrap and voila!

I put all my DMC yarn into this container – these are for specific massive projects that I’ll be working on this year.

These are organized by project.

This next container is for my huge thing of floss I bought when I first started cross stitching. I had a bunch of lose bundles that were driving me mad. This is a much better solution. They’re organized by color.

I hope you’ve had a great weekend Beans! ❤

Cross stitch!

Hi Kara!

A couple of weeks ago after privately complaining to myself that I didn’t have a cheap hobby, you suggested I start cross stitching (which suggests you have the ability to read my mind). And it so fun!

I placed an order on Amazon for a shit ton of embroidery yarn and a cross stitching starter kit. This was enough to keep me in cross stitching for quite a while (I’m grossly under exaggerating) and it cost me $32. THATS IT! I’ve spent, in total, less than $40 on this hobby and that is going to last me for a ridiculously long time.

LOOK AT ALL THAT FLOSS!!! And the thing is, when you cross stitch, you split one of those strands into three sections. I’m honestly set for life.

Here are two projects I’ve made and two I’m currently working on.

Totoro!

Turnip Head!

Haunted Mansion – the hitchhiking ghost are next!

The beginning of a soot sprite for Alison!

I really enjoy working on these and I can’t wait to keep making more!

And just a reminder everyone – Kara and I will be taking a two week break from this blog because WE’RE LEAVING FOR JAPAN IN 2 DAYS!!! Kara, I’ll see you (on Monday. Physically, I will see you on Monday. In a foreign country. Called Japan. Holy shit. But I’ll see you on the blog) November 7!

Being Artsy

Hi Steffibuns!

I LOVED your Microsoft Paint masterpiece you made. I’m impressed.

I’ve also been drawing more for #inktober this year. Inktober is where you do artsy stuff with ink every day in October. I don’t do it every day, but I bought watercolor pencils which sounded cool and they are. You color with them like pencils and then wet the paper with a paintbrush and it turns to water color!

I’m mostly excited you are going to start cross stitching. It’s so addicting, I really hope you enjoy it!

I missed out on responding to the 2016 Nerdfighter census this year. BUMMER. I’ve been watching way more twitch and hardly any youtube. But I am listening to the very exciting analysis of the census (you know I am not being sarcastic) and I’m going to get back to it. He’s currently complaining about those who skipped questions and how they mess up his data. Thank you for this amazing photo of me and Graysmo!

Four Parts

Hi Steffi, this post comes to you in four parts.

Part one. So this happened today and my life could not be more complete.

Two. We are going to Japan in 6 weeks! My mom was being very cute and told me she was looking up ‘traveling to Japan’ to make sure we knew about everything possible. I showed her our emails and the place we booked and I was like, see Steffi has it all figured out 🙂

Part three. I did my first 12 hour livestream on twitch last weekend, it was awesome! And it looks like I just reached my first goal on Patreon so I will make the 12 hour streams a monthly thing. (Thank you Jamie!!)

And part four – I’m almost done with my Harry Potter blanket, only 2 squares and the banner to go. Can’t believe this has taken me a year!

PS – I have stopped reading for right now. My mind’s just not in it, but I’ll let you know when I do start again!

Crochet Goals

Hi Steffibun, happy Tuesday night! Sorry I keep teasing you with almost-punishment-worthy posts. But here you go! These are the crochet projects I currently want to start/finish. I say currently, because I change this all the time. And one yarn shopping trip could change all of this because I’ll see a color of yarn and just have to make something with it. No, I don’t have a yarn addiction problem..

Projects to finish

Harry Potter Blanket (crochet-a-long) I’m already way behind because now the group has moved on to their Star Wars blanket (I’m not allowing myself to start it until I finish this one) but I needed a break from the tangled yarn mess that is a graphgan. (Graphghan is an afghan made from following a pixel graph.)
with-colors

Jamie & Ian’s arch scarf. I’ve almost made it past the Gryffindor colors so I can switch to the Ravenclaw colors. Only about 12 more feet to go…everything is fine.

I also have a dancing baby Groot, a flower pot, a pikmin, and Eve in progress right now. This is actually a small amount of things for me to be working on at once. I must really like crocheting! 😛

Reading challenge update: I’m halfway through Alice!

Loki Fairy Costume Progress

Hi Steffi,

I’m really busy working on my costume for the ren fair this weekend! I’m improving my Loki fairy costume and though I’m sad you probably won’t be joining us, I thought you’d like to see some progress photos!

image

I’m hand sewing some gold ribbon to my corset that I’ve had for a few years.

image

I covered my headband in worbla so I can better attach the horns. I’ve still got to sand and paint it.

image

I was so excited to finally get a dressform! A fabric shop is closing here so I ran to get one. I can’t tell you how much it has helped, I love it!

I can’t wait to see you this weekend! 😄

I Tried Quilling

Hi Steffi, I wanted to film a fun video for you this weekend, but it starting raining and it was the perfect excuse not to do it. So I stayed inside and did some fun crafts instead. This is also one of my 101 in 1001 goals: try quilling!

Quilling is just making art out of twirling thin strips of paper. It’s easy, but tedious. It was relaxing for me, but I imagine anyone with no patience or small fingers wouldn’t enjoy it too much.

IMG_3153I’ve had this ‘how-to’ book for a long time and it included everything I needed except pins and cardboard which was just recommended.

IMG_3154You have to put one end of the sliver of paper through a slot in the tool. Then you evenly twirl the paper until you reach the end. If you wanted a tight curl, you glued the end right as you slide it off the tool. If you wanted a loose curl, you slid it off and then let it unravel itself before gluing the end down.

IMG_3155Here’s some sea creatures I made! You basically just make a bunch of spirals with different lengths of paper and shape them how you want. Each piece needs no more than a speck of glue, you can never use too little.

IMG_3156And birds! The owl’s eyes are strips of black and yellow glued together and twirled into a tight curl.
