Bubblegum Challenge

Hi Steffi, last week you assigned me a challenge video punishment so here it is! It was pretty awful and I’m glad it’s over. 0/10 would not recommend!

Thanks to Kyle for filming, almost all the burping, and the “that’s what she said” jokes.

September First & Peanut Butter Face

Steffi, it’s September 1st and I have to get to Hogwarts today, I just have to. I mean, Jo is just begging us to go.

Want to join me?! By now, the train has already come and gone at King’s Cross Station so we’ll have to find another way. I’m going to suggest ways we can finally achieve our lifelong goal while I’m smearing sticky peanut butter all over my face. This better do wonders for my complexion.

Behold: our first punishment video!

Hi Kara.

I’m giddy. Do you know why I’m giddy? Because you’re going to have to put peanut butter on your face and then tell me something interesting about something interesting. I’m pretty sure you know the face I’m making but JUST IN CASE, it looks something like this:

Which is also my pooping face.

On to my post!

I bought a few new beauty items that I wanted to feature today. They are:

Left to right: Mark Jacobs O!Mega Bronzer in 102, Kiehl’s BB Cream in Fair sample, Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Circle Perfector, MAC Pro Longwear Waterproof Brow Set in Brown Ebony, MAC Extended Play Gigablack Lash, and Covergirl Clump Crusher Water Resistant Mascara in Black.

I recently purchased the Marc Jacobs Beauty bronzer and Kiehl’s under eye cream. And first, we need to go into a rant (is there a non-negative word for rant? I’m going to word-gush? Spit some knowledge).

I needed a new bronzer because my Nars Laguna bronzer is getting to the point where it’s a real bitch to use. So I did me some research. The Laguna bronzer is $39.00 for .23 ounce of product. One ounce of product then costs $139.29. Whereas the Marc Jacobs bronzer – which is equally as wonderful – is $49.00 for one ounce of product. UM. Always check the ounces my friends.

Review time!

The Marc Jacobs Beauty O!Mega Bronze in 102 is really a wonderful product. I don’t find that it’s too dark or too light for my fair skin, it’s very easy to blend out, it’s relatively sheer (so you can’t really eff it up), it’s buildable, it makes me have a healthy looking glow and there’s a huge mirror (which is great for travel). The product is matte, but I absolutely would not consider this to be a contour shade (for fair skin). It’s a little too red toned for that. I love it! And I wont have to buy another bronzer in a long time because THIS SHIT HUGE.

The Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Circle Perfector was purchased because I finally ran out of my First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Triple Remedy: Brighten, Depuff and Smooth (sidebar: WHY ARE THE NAMES OF UNDER EYE CREAMS SO LONG JFC). The FAB product has no SPF and costs $36 for .34oz of product, whereas the Keihl’s product has an SPF of 30 (very important) and costs $38.00 for .50oz of product. The Keilh’s product is also more pigmented in the tint – so I feel like I don’t have to wear as much concealer (or any at all). Lastly, the Keilh’s container is superior. The stupid metal nob on the FAB product lost it’s appeal after about the 10th time that I had to clean it.

Here’s the makeup look that I created with the products above!

Hope you enjoy!

PS when did my hair get this long?

Yes my shirt says Kale.

Book Reviews and Punishments!

Hello Keddah,

I’ve finally left my Patrick Rothfuss book slump and I’ve started reading again! I think summer makes me read.

Alison has Mamrie’s book

These are the books I’ve read so far!

Memoirs of Lady Trent (series)//A Natural History of Dragons and The Tropic of Serpents

These books are WONDERFUL. They’re fantasy books but their written as a memoir and I think that’s so unique. Lady Trent is easily becoming one of my favorite female protagonists in literature. They’re very enticing reads and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend these to anyone. Andrew’s reading them now. The third book is out, but only in hardback, so I’m waiting till the paperback comes out. (PS I have no idea how many books will be in this series so if you ain’t down to wait, hesitate.)

I give them five out of five ducks.

Museum of Extraordinary Things

This book was recommended to me by one of the lovely ladies at Changing Hands and I’m very glad she did! I love reading about “oddities” and this book is full of them. And I’ve noticed that I have a thing for circuses.. Anyways, it was a creepy, eerie, social justice-y, happy ending book and I loved it. If you liked the Miss Peregrine’s series, I would suggest you give this a read.

Five out of five ducks

You Deserve a Drink: Boozy Misadventures and Tales of Debauchery

Mamrie. Stop it, you beautiful beast. I LOVED this book. I’ve said it before, it’s no Let’s Pretend This Never Happened, but it’s still a freaking fantastic book. It has code words, each chapter starts with a recipe for an alcoholic beverage, and there’s Topless Tuesday! Note: While reading this book, Kara and I discussed the fact that if we were in college as we are now, I would never wear pants and Kara just wouldn’t wear clothes period. We also decided, because of this book, that we are each others Heterosexual Life Partners. This book deserves to be read by all.

Six out of five ducks.

The Paper Magician

This book was weird. It was very captivating, but I know that it’s not a well put together book. I’m going to read the second and third in the series, but this is one of those books that you’re embarrassed to like. The concept is so cool, but the story line is really lame. There was just so much more that could have been done with this series.

Four out of five ducks for keeping me reading

No. I hated reading this book. The author is so fucking good at describing the feeling of being watched. For about 2/3 of the book, I was petrified. NOTHING scares me more than the feeling of being watched. But I had to finish it otherwise I would have been stuck. I won’t be reading any more of the series.

Two out of five ducks.

I’m currently reading The Night Circus, which is really good so far (but I’m only about 100 pages in). I’ll let you know how that goes!

As for my punishment: This is what I watched this week!

~Lots of Northernlion. So much Nothernlion. Andrew and I watch his Lets Plays of The Binding of Issac and the Northernlion Live Super Show, which features my internet boyfriend, Nick (Rockleesmile).

~I got into planner decorating this week? (WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME) I’ll just leave this playlist here but my favorite video is the June Plan with Me.

~I played so much Tsum. All the Tsum Tsum. I need a time stop Tsum, a Bambi tsum, and a rabbit Tsum to complete my bingo cards. I’m getting VERY annoyed haha.

~ I watched Monsters U and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. Cloudy w/ a Chance 2 is probably one of my favorite animated films and that kills my Disney heart a little bit. I am embarrassed to tell you how many times I’ve watched this film. And I laugh like it’s the first time EVERY. DAMN. TIME. The bus driver gets me.

Except wait, one more thing. Next week we will have posted to Plaintartsss for a YEAR. WHATTHEDAMNHELL. I’m so mushy every time I think about it.

Less Is So Much More

Hi Steffi, this post comes to you in three parts. And will probably make you think I’ve gone slightly overboard.

Part 1: LIFE IS BETTER WITH LESS STUFF.  I’m on a constant mission to make our life less cluttered. I hate when every possible surface is covered in stuff. We have too much. I watched missglamorazzi’s living with less video and although I already try to do this occasionally, it inspired me to really want to go through the whole house. The less I have the easier it is to clean, relax, and focus on the important things. If something isn’t directly causing us happiness, there’s really no reason to have it. This also means we have to stop getting stuff. Grayson and I are very lucky to have what we have. But owning a house doesn’t mean we need to fill it with everything! I want to be more conscious of what we bring home because if it doesn’t have a place, its place becomes the kitchen counter. And I HATE when things are on the kitchen counter.

Part 2: THE PLAN. I went through my closet last week and filled a bag of clothes for donation. I should have had before pictures, I mean really. Anyway, I’m going to make my way around the house making donate piles, throw away, and reorganize piles. It helps to tackle just one area at a time or you’ll get exhausted real fast. I like to ask myself when I’m deciding on keeping something, “Does this make me happy?” It’s pretty easy to get rid of things after that. I’ll be instagraming all the stuff I’m getting rid of so you can see the mountain of excess stuff we have. Part of this process does include us getting a few more things, but they are things that will make us happy and add value to our lives. Like getting a full size bed for our spare bedroom so our friends and family can visit us and not have to sleep on a futon ;). I have to make room for the bed first, but you see how this will work. Getting rid of the excess so we can be happier with less and add things of value.

Part 3: PUNISHMENTS. As you saw last night on instagram, I am torturing myself by attempting to beat the evil gold blob boss on Pikmin 3. I’ve killed about 200 pikmin so far and have already spent 5 days. Grayson was pretty amused by my constant gasps, screams, and whining. I’ll play it every night this week until I beat it! You truly are the worst.
