A Simple Change

Hi Steffi,

As you know I am extremely busy this time of year with crochet stuff. Since I don’t get to crochet full-time, I feel like I just never have enough time to get everything done. I doubt I’d ever feel like I made everything I wanted to even if I crocheted for 1000 years. BUT. I decided to try to find more time in my day to do what I enjoy doing.

I only made two changes.

I go to bed at 11pm EVERY night. I wake up EVERY morning at 7am.

This has helped me so much! Even though I spend the same amount of time sleeping, I am awake during more productive hours. Staying up until midnight, I’m lucky if I finish anything. But with over an hour of time to myself in the morning, I make more and I am more motivated the rest of the day.

Remember when I said that Saturday was my favorite day because I get to wake up, make coffee and crochet? That’s the first thing I think when I wake up every morning, “Is it Saturday, do I get to crochet?” So I decided I would make every day – at least the first couple of hours – a Saturday. I can’t tell you how happy this simple thought makes me every day.

Just some food for thought in case you are unhappy about something, make a small change to make it better 🙂

PS your mini punishment is to take a beautiful instagram photo of the books you are planning to read the rest of this year.

My actual post

Hello Kara,

You may not know this but this is my second post. I posted at precisely 11:59PM that I had forgot to post. So I posted. It counts! (?!?)

And the reason I forgot to post is this:

I am a giant, big, fat baby. What makes me a giant big fat baby you ask?

I can’t sleep alone.

Andrew is in Vegas this weekend helping his dad set up a Vive in his house. I chose not to go because I wanted a weekend to relax and clean and hang out with my mom and driving sounded like the last thing I wanted to do.

So last night, instead of resting, I slept for maybe 3-4 hours. And I’ve been up all day in and attempt to make myself tired and I’m still up at 12:03PM.

And this is not just an Andrew thing, no. I’ve never been able to sleep alone. I slept with my parents from birth to like 5th grade, which coincided with moving to Phoenix – where basically all my family came to live with us, nevermind the fact that my best friend lived with us every summer. Then I moved to college, where I had roommates. And then I met Andrew.

And I can hear the feminiazies crying outside my window telling me that a woman should be able to do anything alone and blahbedeblah but if they would just come inside maybe I could get some sleep.

12:08PM. Kara. You may mini punish me. Please let it be book related.

Ps. I loved being on Twitch with you tonight! It made me very happy and warm inside. But then I realized that I hadn’t taken the whites out of the dryer and I needed pillow cases and darkness decended again. (The dryer is in/on (I can’t figure out which right now I’m so tired) the patio)

Pps. Andrew is never allowed to leave again unless he gets me a replacement person to have in my house with me. All friends and family are acceptable.

Reading Progress

Hi Beans,

I wanted to update you on my reading process. I haven’t read anything since I finished the Mistborn Trilogy and I will accept a punishment if I don’t read between now and my next post. Same goes for you? Between now and next Saturday some book progress must be made!

Here’s our joint challenge (completed tasks in italics):

  1. A book published this year: In the Labyrinth of Drakes (Memoir by Lady Trent, #4) by Marie Brennan
  2. A book you can finish in a day: The Only Pirate at the Party by Lindsey Stirling.
  3. A book you’ve been meaning to read:  A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
  4. A book recommended by someone at Changing Hands: The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald
  5. A book you should have read in school:
  6. A book chosen by your spouse & one chosen by your BFF: Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson
  7. A book published before you were born:
  8. A book that was banned at some point:
  9. A book you own but have never read:
  10. A book that intimidates you:
  11. A book that you’ve already read once: The Illustrated Edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone by J.K. Rowling

6/11 books completed.

As for my personal challenge, I’ve completed 14/20 books. I’d like to be at 25 by the end of the year though.

101 in 1001 Complete!

Hello Steffibuns!

August 23rd marked the end of my 101 in 1001 challenge. I’m proud of myself for keeping up with this for 3 years, let alone complete 74 tasks. (I’m counting #14. Go camping, because we’re going this weekend. idec.)

Start date: November 26, 2013
Tasks completed: 74/101

Which task(s) are you most proud of?
#18. Make a few things to sell on an Etsy shop. I have gone so far beyond this with K Hook Creations. I am so proud!

#66. Run in a fun 5k. I think back on that race and how hard it was and I’m so proud of us for finishing it!

Which one(s) are you most disappointed you didn’t finish?
#17. I can’t believe it’s been 3 years since I’ve worked on my Disney scrapbook. I did make some progress on the HP one, but it’s far from done.

#21. I was so close to nailing the crow pose a couple of years ago, but I stopped going to yoga class.

Is there a task you’re going to complete anyway?
#49. I will complete the Harry Potter Top 200 quiz. Someday.

Are you going to make another list?
It was really fun checking these things off as we completed them! I’ll take a break before trying to come up with 101 new tasks though.

Good Things

Hi Bean,

I wanted to share with you some good things – because we’ve both had less than stellar weeks this week.

1) My husband graduated!! Woo!!! I am very proud of him and his face. He’s not walking because that’s beneath him (code words in our family for “no I’d rather not have anxiety for months, thank you”) but I’m trying to convince him to do a photo shoot in my cap and gown (which is for someone who is 5’3) and nothing else. It would be just for me so I don’t understand his hesitation. I’ll keep you posted.

2) Grant Gustin’s face.

3) Look at these vicious little bastards:

DEAR GOD. Harvey at the end just kills it.

4) It’s 57 days until we leave for Japan. I bought this amazing jacket for our trip and I plan on putting my Disney pins in the jean part and I AM SO THRILLED. Because in 60 days we will be in TOKYO DISNEYLAND AND IT WILL BE OUR FRIENDVERSARY AND, EXCUSE ME, YES, I WILL TAKE THAT BUCKET OF HAPPINESS.

I hope you have an amazing day and weekend Bean!

Dear Steffi

Sorry for the really lame post, Steffi. It’s been hard to motivate myself to take more pictures and find something to post about. Me and Grayson went to our workout and this is what we came home to. I’m glad I could get a picture for you 😊.

I am so excited to see you this weekend I could burst. It’s going to be a long week to get there, but Friday night should be very fun. Stream will finally get to see granny horcrux!

I love that you’re not wearing foundation anymore. I don’t wear any during the day either. I only wear it for streaming and that’s only because the camera does weird things to my skin. I love my face without makeup and I’m glad you are loving yours too!

I didn’t read last week. I know. I tried listening in my car, but I get too distracted. I’ll make sure to read a little before you get here 😊.

Hello Steffibuns!

So I know you probably hate Disney right now – for very legitimate reasons. I honestly thought it was a joke – or at least not real – when you told me that they are getting rid of Tower. But that is not to say I don’t want to go this year. Because I think we should. And here are the reasons why:

  1. We need another lazy Disney day. I know we can’t ride the train or watch Aladdin the whole time, but we can sit on Main Street with ice cream.
  2. We could take over Astro Blasters again.
  3. We could ride Casey Jr over and over again and pretend that we’re on the real train.
  5. We could ride Tower one more time; yell Hogwarts and scream too early one more time.
  6. The goat.
  7. We COULD watch the wonderful world of caaaah-lahhhhh!
  8. I’d say Pokemon hunting, but you don’t play. But I’ll say it anyway. Pokemon hunting.
  9. The smell of Pirates.
  10. Going one year without going to Disneyland with you is something that’s never happened since 2009. I don’t know about you, but I’m not a quitter.

That being said, we will be in Tokyo Disney this year so we couldn’t beat ourselves up too much about not going.

Reading update: SHAME. I need to read twice as hard this week!
